We spent years trying to make AI work on brownfield manufacturing plants. Marc led Data and AI at Bosch Rexroth across 30+ plants globally. Louis spent a decade building Data and AI platforms at scale.
Both of us watched the same pattern repeat: the first plant would work, the board would get excited, and then the rollout would stall. Twelve months later, the showcase plant was still the only one.
The problem was not the AI. The problem was the foundation. Nobody had built a data layer that could generalize across the chaotic reality of brownfield plants. So every deployment started from scratch, took months, and cost enough to kill the next one.
context/fab exists because we decided to build that foundation ourselves — and because we thought every manufacturer who asked us about it deserved a better answer than “hire a consultancy for 18 months.”
