Founding Engineer (Fullstack / Infrastructure)

About the Role

We're building context/fab, a venture-backed industrial AI startup on a mission to upgrade manufacturing by solving the hardest data problems on the shop floor.

As our Founding Engineer (Fullstack/Infrastructure), you'll work directly with the founders to architect, build, and ship the core platform. You'll own major Python/TypeScript product services, the Next.js app, and our Kubernetes-based infrastructure — while collaborating closely with teams working on agentic workflows, graph-based RAG, and edge connectivity.

What You'll Do

• Own core product engineering across Python, TypeScript, Next.js, and our Kubernetes infrastructure
• Build backend services, frontend features, APIs, and internal tooling end-to-end
• Set up and maintain infra components such as Argo CD, Helm charts, GitHub Actions, observability, and secure deployment pipelines
• Join customer meetings, on-site visits, and pilots to deeply understand workflows and turn them into product and technical requirements
• Work closely with founders to design architecture, validate technical feasibility, and iterate quickly on product direction
• Build scalable data ingestion and orchestration flows that integrate with our agentic/graph/RAG systems
• Collaborate with teams working on knowledge graph systems, agentic pipelines, and edge connectivity to factory connectivity
• Lead special technical projects across integrations, automation, performance, and ML/AI tooling
• Act as a true partner to the founders — help make decisions, set technical direction, and push initiatives forward

What Makes You a Great Fit

• Strong experience across fullstack and infrastructure engineering, ideally in early-stage or high-ownership environments
• Be product-minded and excited about deeply understanding customer problems without being spoon-fed requirements
• Deep proficiency with Python and TypeScript, and experience building production systems with frameworks like Next.js
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Argo CD, CI/CD, observability, and cloud infra fundamentals
• You enjoy translating messy, real-world industrial problems into clean, scalable engineering solutions
• Experience with data-intensive systems, distributed systems, or industrial/IoT environments is a plus
• Exposure to knowledge graphs, RAG pipelines, or agentic systems is helpful (not required)
• Pragmatic, fast, and comfortable shipping under uncertainty
• Entrepreneurial — you want to build a company, not just features
• Fluent in English; German is a plus

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, high-ambiguity environment
